A Spelkollektivet outpost
The vision of Spelkollektivet is to create spaces for game developers who are looking to surround themselves with like-minded people.
Krustceles is an outpost built around one particular challenge:
Finding the right people to build something with.
This is a place for game developers who are between teams, projects or directions and want to meet others in the same position. Rather than simply providing somewhere to live and work, it creates an environment where people can spend meaningful time together, make games, try different collaborations and discover who they work well with.
The goal is not that everyone who comes to Krustceles already knows what they want to build or who they want to build it with. It is to give them the space and opportunities to figure that out.
Spelkollektivet is intended for game developers who are looking for a supportive and creative community in which to pursue their passion for game development. The low rent and all-inclusive amenities makes Spelkollektivet designed to be an affordable option for those who might not have the financial resources to rent their own office space or live in a high-cost area with all the desired amenities.
The emphasis on building a community of like-minded individuals who can support and learn from each other makes Spelkollektivet for people who value collaboration, shared experiences, and the opportunity to form connections with other developers from all over the world. The fact that everything is included, from meals to laundry detergent, makes Spelkollektivet designed to be a space where developers can focus on their work without worrying about the practicalities of daily life.
We expect everyone who's staying at Spelkollektivet to embrace our "5 BE's" which are as follows:
Spelkollektivet is located in a small village in Sweden with around 950 residents. A grocery store is within 5 minutes walking distance, and the surrounding area offers plenty of forest to explore. Buses pass through the village regularly, making it easy to reach nearby cities.
We generally recommend flying to Copenhagen Airport. From there, take a train to Växjö (~2.5 hours), followed by a bus to Väckelsång (~30 minutes). The total cost is around €40.
The last bus from Växjö to Väckelsång usually departs at 22:00, so the latest recommended train from Copenhagen Airport is around 19:30.
